Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) approached Cornerstone with the brief of designing and developing their Smart Community Demonstration Project in partnership with NEDO. They wanted to keep it informative with a personal feel in order to appeal to their audience, and also wanted it to reflect the fact that they’re a Manchester based organisation servicing the residents in and around the city.
To communicate the ‘local feel’, Cornerstone produced a theme that focused around the Manchester area with a skyline home banner and similar footer design. This involved bespoke photography specific to the project, photographed from a popular Oldham hillside near Mossley. A simple and clean navigation was developed, ensuring good user experience and navigation to key areas of the website. The home page layout was also carefully pulled together to act as a quick path to key information, case studies, and information about how people in Greater Manchester could benefit from this scheme. These factors when pulled together have helped to raise awareness of the benefits that the GM Smart Energy project brings, and also gets the message across effectively about the real results this project is capable of achieving.
The site was launched with a quick turnaround from design and development to completion to ensure tight deadlines from the projects partners were met. This ensured the project could be launched on time, and with a solid digital presence for key stakeholders across Greater Manchester and other countries. The client was very pleased with the final website and provided positive feedback on both the website and our service throughout the process.
